Dr. Lorraine Edey is a Certified Imago Therapist and Relationship Coach whose experience in psychology, social work and relationship building spans more than 30 years. Her innovative coaching methods have helped couples in their 40s and 50s attain the next level of marriage mastery and enjoy a new love mindset.
 

About Lorraine Edey

Dr. Lorraine Edey, known for her Extreme Money Makeover™ program, brings her wealth of experience to “married again” couples to help them find success in their new relationship. Second marriages bring a unique set of challenges, and Dr. Edey draws upon her wealth of knowledge, expertise and practical advice to create “recipes for extraordinary relationships,” helping couples achieve marriage success using tools she has used since the 1980s to help individuals overcome alcoholism, trauma, relationship problems and more.

Dr. Edey earned her Bachelor of Psychology at the College of New Rochelle in New York, and her Master of Social Work from New York University. She later received her Doctor of Philosophy from Westbrook University in Aztec, New Mexico. Throughout her career, Dr. Edey has continued her education through a variety of certification and enrichment programs that make her uniquely qualified to work with remarried couples. She is a Certified Imago Therapist, focusing on communication in relationships to discover and resolve relationship conflict. She also is certified as a Relationship Therapist and Relationship Coach, and a Prepare-Enrich Facilitator, having been certified to utilize the leading relationship inventory assessment tool for couples.

Her experience includes more than 20 years of couples and relationship coaching as a psychotherapist, training as a family therapist at Albert Einstein Hospital – The Minuchin Center for the Family, and conducting workshops and teleclasses on relationships for singles and couples.
Dr. Edey also has tirelessly volunteered as a counselor and mentor with a variety of organizations, including the Brevard County Schools, where she mentored girls to help them complete high school study and continue on to college; Big Brother-Big Sister Mentoring Program for At-Risk High School Girls in Orlando, Florida; and the Atlanta Day Women’s & Children’s Shelter in Atlanta, Georgia. She implemented a Youth Program for At-Risk Youth at Truman High School in Bronx, New York, and volunteered with the CRACKDOWN Project for Drug-Free Kids in the Bronx as well. In addition, she has served as the Chapter Chairperson for “A Special Wish Foundation” in Orlando, Florida, and as a Board Member for the Hacienda Girls Ranch for At-Risk Girls and at the Unity Church of Christianity, both in Orlando.

Dr. Edey serves as the Continuing Education Chairperson for the National Association of Social Workers, and is a member of the Academy of Certified Social Workers, the National Board for Certified Clinical Hypnotherapists, the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, the Step-Family Foundation and Imago International, to name a few. An acclaimed author and speaker, Dr. Edey presented programs for the New York City Committee on Women and Alcoholism, the American College of Nurse-Midwives, the New York City Board of Education, Girl Scouts Council of Greater New York, Inc., Federal Emergency Management, Emory School of Business and Bank of America, among others. Her articles have appeared in numerous publications including The Connection Magazine, Orlando Life Magazine and Natural Awakenings Magazine, and the book which she co-authored, “Wake Up Women: Be Happy, Healthy and Wealthy,” has reached #7 on the Barnes & Noble Bestseller list. She also can be heard as a guest on Blogtalkradio, where she shares advice on managing money and relationships to lead a more fulfilling life.
