There are many reasons for Occupy’s longevity, the core being its beliefs as stated in the original Declaration of Occupation produced by their General Assembly and which are outlined in 23 bullet points.  Everyone needs to go to www.nycga.net under resources to be reminded of their clarity and power.

A very important secondary reason for Occupy still being a presence in a country which is obsessed with American Idol, politicians vying for “best liar” and other such life-enhancing distractions, are our reporters, photographers and artists.

Even if Mainstream Media does its best to ignore or minimize the movement, bloggers, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and online publications such as the Huffington Post do not…and this is where our reporters throng.

I became aware of Jeff Pliskin of Raised Fist Propaganda through a mutual friend and Occupier, American Poet Paul Spitz, who himself had been a subject of some of Jeff’s works.

This motivated me to visit his website, www.RaisedFistPropaganda.com and to come away impressed.  In today’s interview he tells us how that site came about, its provocative, and his evolution in chronicling Occupy on film.

Credentials?  They start with his high school days of videoing Skate Boarders on Long Island, moving on to filming a Reggae band Slightly Stoopid on the Snoop Dogg tour, and then focusing on the backstage lives of bands like Bad Brains, Wu Tang Clan and so forth.

And now, his focus (literally) is on the Occupy Movement and its people…both natural and necessary for this photographer.
