John Register, the All-American Runner who had the courage to carry on… even after Leg Amputation!

Since childhood, athletics have been John Register’s passion. While attending the University of Arkansas he became a three-time-All-American. In 1988 John qualified for the Olympic trials in the 110 meter hurdles; he qualified again in the 400 meter hurdles.

With these accomplishments, John seemed destined to compete as a member of the 1996 Olympic Team. But…and this is going to break your heart, people… on May 17, 1994, a faulty landing hyper-extended John’s left knee…this resulted in an injury to his John’s artery. An attempt to reconstruct the artery failed! Within days, gangrene turned
the muscle black and amputation was suggested. The alternative was a useless left knee and ankle, which would confine him to a wheelchair. Though devastating, the injury did not stop him. With his strong faith and the support of his wonderfully supportive wife Alice, John chose amputation. Through the use of a pross-thesis, John would walk again – and eventually run!

We’re talking about courage, people. The courage to fulfill the reason for our birth! And we all have that capacity in us…all of us, so very deeply within. It’s our true birth-right as human beings. John expresses the very best of all of us…all of our beautiful human family. I’m honored to have John as a very special guest on my show…encouraging him to share not only the inspiring, even spiritual messages, but also the everyday, very practical messages of takingcare of business in each of our day to day wondrous lives!

John is now Co-Founder of Inspired Communications.
