“Some may find them merely diverting melodies. Others may find them incitements to Red revolution. And who will say if either or both is wrong? Not I.” — Pete Seeger in Rolling Stone, April 13, 1972

Some singers, musicians and poets find a cause to express their voice.  Others, a precious few, have voices that are found by a cause – and today’s guest on “15 Minutes of Fact” is one of the latter.

If you aren’t already familiar with him, you will be. It may embarrass him, but I see Matt Pless as the voice of protest for this era in much the way I experienced Dylan, Baez, Guthrie, Ochs, Seeger and others back in the day.

Matt, a former punk rocker, hopped on a bus in Baltimore to head up to Zuccotti Park in September, 2011, to become one of its very first singer/musicians to show up.

Zuccotti was where Jason Samel, Producer of “OccupyThisAlbum” found him and then to use him – like an oyster forms a pearl – to layer on other equally impressive known and unknown artists.  (Hear Jason’s 15MOF interview here – “Occupy Nails Down Its Music Stripes” http://bit.ly/HOgwfT)

Not only is a selection by Matt’s the very first of “99 tracks by 99 artists for the 99%,” but it captures the essence of the Occupy Movement:  “Something’s got to give.”

Occupy Supporters and music fans will be able to hear Matt and a number of these artists at an Album Record Release Party to be held at the City Winery in NYC on Tuesday, May 8 (http://bit.ly/KkPA90).  For a full list of singers/songs, go to www.MusicForOccupy.com.

Matt can be reached by way of his website, www.mattpless.com, and directly at: mattplessmusic@hotmail.com.

Enjoy the interview, and Occupy’s Voice, Matt Pless.
