Wendy Boglioli, a former Olympic swimmer and Gold Medalist, is a motivational speaker and spokeswoman for Genworth Financial.

She is best known for winning the gold medal in the 4x100m freestyle relay in world record time at the 1976 Montréal. The gold was particularly crucial to the U.S. women’s team as it was the only gold medal awarded to American women during the games.

Wendy then served as assistant coach of the Yale University Swim Team, before embarking on a career as a motivational speaker and spokesperson.

She began competitive track cycling at the age of 40. She competed in the 1995 and 1996 U.S. Masters Track Cycling National Championship where she earned a total of eight Gold Medals. She also competed in the Senior National Track Championships in Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1996.

In 1997, she entered the long-term care insurance field and currently serves as national spokeswoman for Genworth Financial’s Long Term Care Division.
Why should Boomers focus on the issues swirling around long-term care?

A January 2010 Age Wave/Harris Interactive survey sponsored by Genworth revealed that “medical expenses not covered by insurance” is the top retirement concern of people age 55 and older. Further, the national median cost, in 2011, of one year in a private nursing-home room is about $77,745.

During this program we discuss long-term care and insuring against the huge financial risks with an Olympic Gold Medalist who also understands long-term care as a caregiver for both of her parents.
