Okaerinasai~. Its been a little while, ninjas, but we are back with our 10th episode. Thanks for tagging along this far. Today’s musical portion is all about the fun wacky songs that sneak out of Japan. And for our interview I finally was able to work out scheduling with the lead singer of AX (Anime Expo) 2011 Battle of the Band’s winners-Midnight Shinigami. Her name is fittingly Mynx Midnight and she is an absolute dream to talk to.
On today’s show we talk with Joseph Kamiya about his unique and ethereal sounds. He has a unique perspective with his roots hailing from Okinawa.Take a listen then visit his site to keep up with him.
Today’s show is a great show. I was a little ill so I played a lot of music and then we wrap it up with one of the funnest bands I’ve ever had the pleasure to see live. Psycho Bando talks about how they got together, anime themes songs, South Park and OKCupid (you’ll see).

Another outstanding show. Showcasing some brilliant underground Japanese music. Great bands great sounds and a great interview. Today we talk to Caro from Sweetstreets. She recounts how she got where she was, here friendship with the Polysics and the artisits she works with today including Luke Cheuh and Emi (?). It’s a fun show so I hope you enjoy it. On todays show I ramble on about one of my favorite musical categories- visual kei. I know you know the big names like x japan, gackt, miyavi, malice mizer, and dir en grey but have you heard of daizy stripper, an-cafe or the all girl group danger gang? So even if you are a frequent visitor to harajuku and shinjuku, are all up on your cosplay of every member of phantasmagoria you may (or maybe you can school me) find a new band on today’s show to worship faun over and memorize their bio.
If you don’t want to be a weeaboo (weebo?) then its time to take you back to school. Take a listen enjoy the sounds and learn a little something about the beauty of the visual aesthetic that permeates this definitively Japanese musical tradition.
